Ultrasound Service Section

Supervises Obstetrics and Genecology (OBG) ultrasound operation section. This supervision includes the process of planning, staffing, leading and controlling the management and technical activities under the OBG ultrasound operation. Ensures that this service achieves and maintains standards of quality and efficiency in accordance with Hospital and departmental polices. Performs patient exams to maintain high standards of clinical skills.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties

1.Establishes and maintains a positive working environment to implement policies. Ensures safe and healthy work environment.

2.Performs duties of sonographer as required. Performs high standard ultrasound examinations. Documents all studies performed. Communicates with the obstetricians regarding the ultrasound findings and development of new protocols or research projects.

3.Plans and directs work flow activities within OBG department. Schedules, organizes, and monitors operations to optimize patient care and efficiency. Coordinates the weekly assignment scheduling and leave planning.

4.Participates in selecting, recruiting, and retaining employees. Evaluates employees as needed and makes recommendations regarding candidates for hire.

5.Ensures optimum utilization of equipment, supplies, stock items, space and personnel. Participates in assessing capital equipment need. Coordinates with biomedical engineering for all equipment maintenance and repair. Implements and maintains documentation for ultrasound equipment cleaning.

6.Participates in on site evaluations for installation of new equipment and in selection committee for the procurement of new equipment.

7.Supervises and resolves technical and administrative issues related to technical and support staff of the department.

8.Prepares and submits reports or memos identifying equipment performance problems and vendor support issues and offers prioritized recommendations for correction to the appropriate person.

9.Overviews ordering/inventory of all supplies (stock and non-stock) for optimum care.

10.Assists in preparing, monthly, quarterly, statistical productivity and other report. Responsible for isolating deficiencies in the performance of the section. Leads Performance Improvement project in the section.

11.Ensures adequate quality checks and controls are in place to maintain the highest service standards.

12.Participates in staff meetings, in-services and/or continuing education. Participates actively in the training of interns and trainees. Develops orientation programs for new employees and participates in orientation.

13.Follows all Hospital related policies and procedures.

14.Participates in self and others education, training, and development, as applicable.

15.Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education

Masters or Bachelors Degree in Radiological Sciences/ Technology is required.

Experience Required

• Grade 09:

Two (2) years of related experience with Masters or four (4) years with Bachelors Degree is required.

• Grade 10:
• Four (4) years as Senior Ultrasound Technologist, OBGYN at KFSH&RC.
• Average of annual performance appraisal at least (3.5) for the last four (4) years.
• One hundred (100) hours of cumulative continued medical education [CME].

Other Requirements(Certificates)

Current Registration from country of origin and Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCHS) is required.
